Estréia do Campeonato Brasileiro Série B 2013, 24/05/2013, e estréia também do Oeste na série B Nacional. A partida foi entre Oeste e Avaí, com a equipe de Santa Catarina vencendo a partida por 1 a 0 (Márcio Diogo) até os 48 mínutos do segundo tempo, quando o goleiro Fernando Leal resolveu ir pra área no último lance da partida, um escanteio, para marcar de cabeça o seu primeiro gol na carreira, e o do empate do Oeste.
